Our client celebrates and brings inside many of the great landmarks in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Spanning over 3000sqm, and located in central Wellington, this project sought to create an environment that combined functionality with a strong spatial narrative anchored in Te Ao Māori.
Our client sought help with refreshing a tired office space that was no longer fit for purpose, overcrowded and unable to support connection and collaboration as well as wanting to incorporate floorspace no longer required by a neighbouring organisation.
Studio DB guided a comprehensive workplace strategy. The objectives established during this phase set the project on a strong footing, allowing it to evolve as the design matured. Materials and texture derived from natural elements, such as wood and stone, grounds the design. The colour palette reflects the natural surroundings of Te Whanganui-a-Tara, evoking a sense of place and connection to the land and a visually cohesive atmosphere.
Our client’s new workplace not only celebrates the cultural heritage and landmarks of Te Whanganui-a-Tara, but also serves as a futureproof, meaningful hub of knowledge, embodying the values and narratives that are intrinsic to the organisation’s work.
