Bluecurrent

Bluecurrent partnered with Studio DB to create a workplace shaped by the dual concept of Focus and Flow. The design balances moments of concentrated work with spaces that encourage connection and movement. Reflecting the company’s values of transparency, responsiveness, and innovation, the workplace uses a simple and authentic material palette layered with confident blue brand elements. The result is an environment that supports collaboration, wellbeing, and the evolving needs of a modern energy and data business.

Bluecurrent collaborated with Studio DB to develop a workplace that brings their evolving brand  and organisational purpose into the built environment. As a leading smart metering and data  services provider across New Zealand and Australia, the company required a space that supports  both focused technical work and collaborative problem solving while reflecting its commitment  to innovation, transparency, and sustainability.

The design is guided by the conceptual drivers of Focus and Flow. Focus represents insight,  precision, and clarity, creating environments that enable deep concentration and technical work.  Flow reflects connection, energy, and responsiveness, expressed through collaborative spaces  that encourage movement, interaction, and the exchange of ideas. Together these principles  shape a workplace that reflects the dynamic nature of energy networks and data systems.

Studio DB began the project with a strategic consulting session involving staff and key  stakeholders to identify workplace priorities, cultural drivers, and opportunities for improvement.  This collaborative process helped establish a clear design direction while ensuring alignment with  Bluecurrent’s global brand identity and communication strategy.

Sustainability was a central consideration throughout the project. Existing building elements were  retained wherever possible, reducing waste and environmental impact while delivering  meaningful cost efficiencies. The planning strategy supports both productivity and wellbeing  through open collaboration zones, focused work settings, meeting rooms, wellness spaces, and  end of trip facilities that encourage active commuting.

Materiality plays an important role in expressing Bluecurrent’s identity. A simple and authentic  palette of natural finishes is paired with layered blue brand accents and geometric forms drawn  from the company’s visual language. These elements create visual continuity throughout the  space while reinforcing themes of clarity, energy, and forward momentum.

The result is a workplace that reflects Bluecurrent’s position as a forward-thinking leader in smart  metering and data services, designed to support innovation, empower people, and enable the  business to grow into the future.
